Invisible Children
In the Spring of 2003 three young filmmakers left Southern
California and went to Uganda in search of stories. They certainly found one. A big one. A tragedy that disgusted them and
inspired them to do something.
They saw how rebel leaders abduct
children and force them to fight in a war that has lasted 23 years.
They
captured this story on film and used the power of media to show the stories of these child soldiers. Their documentaries
are mobilizing a generation to capture the attention of the international community,
and make a stand for justice in the wake of genocide.
Besides bringing awareness through film, their foundation rebuilds schools, provides water and sanitation,
gives scholarships and provides micro-loans. They have several projects involving music, as well as a "schools for schools"
program where U.S. schools can send money and books to schools in Uganda.
